The Quebec music scene was rocked by a powerful earthquake in September 1994. While “Terre promise, a surprising roadtrip song by a teenager rumored to already be a party animal, introduced Éric Lapointe earlier that summer, “N’importe quoi established him as a star. The 30 years that followed were punctuated by extraordinary invitations, including from the Rolling Stones, who called on him to open their two Paris concerts on the Voodoo Lounge Tour in 1995, and from Céline Dion for a duet on the Plains of Abraham in 2008. Throughout these years, he also released 17 albums, amassed a considerable collection of over twenty No. 1 hits on the Quebec radio charts, achieved Top 3 sales status, and won a multitude of awards and distinctions, notably from ADISQ and the Festival d’été international de Québec (FEQ).

In celebration of his 30th anniversary this year, Éric Lapointe is marking the occasion with a re-recording of the ten songs from his debut album OBSESSION (Terre promise, N’importe quoi, L’exquise…), and an anniversary show, OBSESSION 30 ANS, a celebration of the three decades since that landmark album was released.
