Half Moon Run
When it comes to describing Half Moon Run, labels fall short. Alternative pop, bucolic folk, or psychedelic indie rock—none of these terms quite captures the essence of their arrangements and harmonies, which are as ethereal as they are intricate. Their songs sound beautiful to our ears before completely taking hold of us.
In Quebec, Half Moon Run benefits from an exceptional reputation, as evidenced by, among other achievements, the Félix Awards for “Album or Show of the Year – Other Genres” (2013), “Quebec Artist Who Has Made the Greatest Name for Themselves Outside Quebec” (2016), and “Show of the Year – English-Language” (2017 and 2022), won at the ADISQ galas. Fall 2019 saw the release of the band’s third album, A Blemish in the Great Light, which won the Juno Award for “Adult Alternative Album of the Year” the following year. It was during 2020 that the EP Seasons of Change and the pandemic-era album The Covideo Sessions were released. Returning to its core trio following Isaac Symonds’ departure, Half Moon Run wasted no time composing and recording Inwards & Onwards (2021), an EP entirely produced by the band members and marking a new chapter that culminated in 2022 with another Juno Award for “Adult Alternative Album of the Year.” 2023 saw the release of Salt, the fourth album from a band at the peak of their artistry.
